Weekly Golf Report

Wednesday April 18th
A game of stroke on the East determined the winner of the Monthly Medal today. Three players vied for the prize with Chris Kelly’s 67 net narrowly defeating Di Patterson and Pam Taylor also with a lovely 67. Pam cleverly shot an Eagle on the Par 4 sixth hole to round off a great day.
Division 1: 1st Di Patterson 67, 2nd Cheryl Ashworth 73, 3rd Barb Sands 73 on a countback
Division 2: 1st Chris Kelly 67, 2nd Pam Taylor 67 on a countback, 3rd Toni Beck 71
Division 3: 1st Ann McPherson 69, 2nd Marg O Brien 72, 3rd Judy McCartney 74

The ball rundown went to 75 net
Nearest the Pins on the 16th : A grade Liz Easther B grade: Leila Ritchie C grade: Helen Henderson
Second Shot was won by Michelle Love on the 13th.
Marion Whatley claimed the Super Pin on the 8th.

A nine hole stroke round was played today. Shirlie Jackson was the winner with 42 net. The Runner up Mary Moss (43)

Saturday April 14th
20 players competed on the West course for Saturday’s Star Award in cold, wet and windy conditions.
The winner was Joy Kelly with 74 net. 2nd Rosalie Drill 75. 3rd Felicity Douglas 76

The ball rundown went to 81 net.
Nearest the Pin: Gloria Bennett on the 8th West
Karen Fitzgerald won the Super Pin on the 13th hole.

Monday April 16th
A nine hole Stableford round was played on the East course on Monday.
35 ladies played and the ball rundown went to 16 points.
Division 1: 1st Karen Evans (22), 2nd Joyce Moresi (20)
Division 2: 1st Vicki Shipp (22), 2nd Bernadine Eade (21)

The second shot on the 3rd East was won by Jennifer Todd.

Murray River Challenge 2018

Left is a photo of the 56 RRGC golfers and 56 Murray Downs golfers who participated in the third annual River Murray Challenge held at the Murray Downs Golf and Country Club on April 15th.

Teams played a mixed fourball event with results for each club being totalled then averaged. Sadly the home team Murray Downs won the challenge with a 38.14 average ahead of Rich River with 36.14.

A separate fourball event was run in conjunction with challenge. Rich River players Cheryl and Ken Ashworth (pictured below) won the day with 45 points ahead of fellow Rich River Team mates David and Jenny Kirkpatrick on 44points. Rosalie Drill and Joel Watson won nearest the pins.

Next years event will be held at the RRGC on March 24th.

Premier League

The eighth round of the Ladies Premier League sees Lee’s Legends still on top after suffering their first defeat at the hands of the Bottom of the Barrel girls. Stroke of Luck are in second place followed by Eight Tarts and Bottom of the Barrel.

Premier League players enjoy a complimentary glass of Brown Brothers Prosecco after each round of the competition. Cheers Brown Brothers and thank you for your generous sponsorship!
