Weekly Golf Report

Wednesday August 16th
Soggy and windy conditions deterred many a player on Wednesday. A stroke round was contested by a small band of women who competed in the sixth round of the Clarice Cheatley Brooch in one division.
The winner was Lorraine De Ravin with net 75. This fine score qualified her for the play off for the Clarice Cheatley Brooch later in the year. Lyn James was runner up (76). Sally Hojnik came third (78).

The ball rundown went to 84.
Nearest the Pin on the 4th hole was won by Chris Fleming.
Colleen Armstrong scored the Second Shot on the 8th.
Susan Hull had the honour of being the only player to drive to the 13th green and consequently took out today’s Super Pin.

A nine hole stroke competition was also played on Wednesday. Barbara Duke won with 40 net; Carolyn Smith was runner up (42).

Saturday August 12th
30 women competed for the sixth round of the Star Award on Saturday, playing a Stroke round on the West course.
Gloria Bennett was the winner with 75 net, making her this month’s star. Marion Brotchie was runner up on a countback (75). Third placegetter was Fran Galvin (77).

The ball rundown went to 81 net.
Carol Eddy won the Super Pin on the 13th West.

Monday August 14th
It was perfect golfing weather for the 31 women who took part in a nine hole Par round on Monday.
Division 1: 1st Suzan Hutton who continues her winning streak (+2), 2nd Beryl Clack also experiencing a purple patch since returning to golf (+1).
Division 2: 1st Ros Pellegrino with the score of the day (+3), 2nd Susan Hull who is playing consistently well (+2).
Trish Williams scored the Second Shot.

Bridie McKenzie & 4BBB Knockout

Monday 7th August: East Course
Played in extremely trying conditions, cold, wet and windy. Heather Gunstone took out the prestigious Bridie McKenzie Singles Match Play, 4 up with 2 to play, against strong opposition from Judy White. The final 2 out of the top 16 qualifiers. Gunstone has been on a winning streak following on from last week’s Bronze Division win at Tocumwal in the Murray Goulburn Golf Association event.

The 4BBB match was won by Lorraine Healey and Colleen Armstrong, following on from their success of last year. A keenly contested match ensued against strong opposition in Helen Taylor and Di Patterson (both of these players have featured often as winners in pairs comps recently). As with last year's match, the match going right down to the wire with a hard fought win on the 18th hole, 1 up. All players, caddies, spectators and referees enjoyed a well earned cuppa and snack in warmer and dryer conditions back in the clubhouse following the matches.

Thank you to stalwarts Iris Hicks and Joy Kelly for their refereeing of the matches.

Colleen Armstrong & Lorraine Healey: 4BBB                              Heather Gunstone: Bridie winner

Rich River Shield winners: Sue Jasch, Chris Kelly, Noeline King, Mary Boek
